About this Dementia Conference

Dementia Conference 2016The Society for the Arts in Dementia Care is doing it again!
Previous dementia conferences of our Society focused on older adults that were diagnosed with dementia or experienced some memory loss and wished to be proactive about it. As research about dementia further developed, we started to hear that being engaged in the arts may postpone onset dementia by two years. As a result, our dementia conferences now include interactions with healthy older adults as well.

Our conference theme is: Creativity & Aging. The event will include presenters known for their work in the field of healthy aging and dementia care as they engage others in the arts. The conference will provide hands-on demonstrations and new research. Participants will be able to take away new ideas to their workplaces or to share when they interact with healthy older adults and with people living with dementia in care facilities or at home.

As in the past, participants will have the opportunity to meet peers and make new connections. The Society for the Arts in Dementia Care is looking forward to greeting you there with new experiences and old friends. We welcome professionals in health care, creative expression facilitators, family members, care givers, administrators of care facilities, students and anyone interested in improving care for all. Help us make this a meaningful encounter!
